Atlanta-based Beazer Homes has started a new division to buy distressed homes and fix them up for the rental market.

In a statement, the company says it already started the program in Phoenix. The program entails buying homes, typically out of distress, that were built since 2004, then making the necessary repairs to offer them for rent.

The company anticipates having 100 homes in the program in Phoenix by the end of the year and possibly expanding it to Nevada and California.

iPhone App

Real estate agents can use an iPhone app to save information from the business cards they collect at conferences and business meetings by converting it into a digital format.

Cardmunch allows them to take a photo of a business card and upload it to the app's server. At that point, however, an actual human being transcribes the information so it can be used in more than one software program. Agents could import card data into their contacts and send LinkedIn requests and follow-up e-mails.
